Prevention focuses on information, skills, and behaviors that parents can learn and practice to help their kids make healthy choices. Prevention emphasizes addressing the issue of ice or other drug use before kids start experimenting. Many people view prevention as a “one-shot deal” or a one-time talk that will keep youth from using drugs. However, research shows that healthy skills and behaviors need to be reinforced over time.
